Tribute to Patricia Sue Nix

Patricia Sue Nix was born December 16, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Irvin Wade and Dortha Nell Palmer. She was the oldest of four siblings – Darlene, Buddy and Richard.

Sue dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age, experiencing glorious Acts 2:38 salvation. She was filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 14. From the beginning, Sue’s prayer was to serve the Lord on the foreign mission field.

In 1957, Sue left her residence in Camden, Tennessee, to attend Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, Mississippi. Sue married her Bible School sweetheart, Robert Nix, a young minister who also felt the call to foreign missions, shortly after earning her Bachelor of Theology degree in 1961.

In 1967, Robert and Sue Nix and their two children, Kevin and Keith, arrived in Lima, Peru. By 1970, two other sons, Kyle and Kelly, had joined the family.

Sue spent most of her adult life fulfilling her dream of being a missionary. She and her family labored in missions – both home and foreign – in Peru, Costa Rica, Oregon and Texas. They also held pastorates in Tennessee and Arizona.

Most of Sue’s years were spent in Peru. Her deep love for the Peruvian people caused her to frequently repeat a statement for which she became known... “Don’t feel sorry for me because I’m a missionary. I’m the happiest person in the world!” Rarely would she testify without reminding her listeners that she considered being a missionary the greatest privilege there is.

Sue and Robert’s greatest desire was that their sons would be called into the ministry. Today, all four are Apostolic pastors. One of their sons has served as missionary in his own right in Brazil, and two are serving in Peru today.

In May of 2012, the Lord graciously let Sue’s family know that, after sharing her with them for so many years, He now wanted her closer to Him. At 9:07 p.m. on July 15, 2012, minutes after a time of singing and worship with her family gathered around her bedside, Sue’s band of heavenly escorts stepped into the hospital room and quietly lifted her to a place where angels waited at attention to welcome Heaven’s newest VIP... our wife and mother,

Patricia Sue Nix... Until Someday soon.
